SubZero Gelato(Henley Brook)

SubZero Gelato is an artisan gelato shop on West Swan Road in Henley Brook, right in the middle of the Swan Valley trail of cellar doors and breweries. The gelato is handcrafted on site with a rotating flavour board that runs from toffee hazelnut crunch and Thai milk tea to mango sorbets and plant-based options, plus fresh waffles and giant gelato sandwiches. It is one of the valley's genuine bring-the-dog stops, with a shaded outdoor area where a dog can settle while you work through a cone.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor seating, patio and lawn areas; only the service counter inside is off limits, as standard for a food shop. There is plenty of room to sit with a dog on lead, lawn games and a small sand play area keep kids busy nearby, and the misting spray takes the edge off hot afternoons. Bring your own water bowl, and aim for the shaded side in summer since the sealed surfaces heat up fast in the valley.

Worth knowing

The shop also runs coffee and toasties, so a late-morning stop works as a light lunch, and there are dairy-free, vegan and gluten-free choices alongside a few adult flavours like espresso martini and rum and raisin. SubZero takes its gelato on the road too, hiring out a mobile cart for weddings and events around Perth. Opening hours shift with the season: Friday to Sunday generally, 10am to 5pm, with daily openings across school holidays, so check before a hot drive.

Getting there and parking

West Swan Road is the valley's main drag, an easy turn off Reid Highway, with a large free car park right out front. Late morning is the calmest window before the weekend day-trip rush builds. The lawn and shade make it an easy family-and-dog stop between winery visits.
