Occy's

Occy's is a casual brewery bar and restaurant at 5/38 Dunn Bay Road in the middle of Dunsborough, and it is about as dog-welcoming as a venue gets. Staff run a Dog of the Week feature on their socials, keep water bowls out and stock local dog treats, so dogs are expected guests rather than a favour to be granted.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the undercover outdoor courtyard and along the front footpath, reached through the side gate, and they stay on lead. Water bowls come out without asking and the kitchen often has local Jaws dog treats on hand. Dogs are not taken into the main indoor dining room, but the covered courtyard does the job year round.

The vibe

The draw is house-brewed craft beer alongside casual pub food: burgers, seafood, share plates and a daily happy hour from 4pm. Doors open from midday Tuesday to Sunday, with a later close on Friday and Saturday, and Monday is the day the whole place shuts.

Pepsi: come in through the side gate, claim the courtyard, and the water bowl and treats sort themselves out. This one is built for dogs.

Getting there

Street parking runs along Dunn Bay Road, with a public car park behind the shops about two minutes away. It is an easy stop straight after a walk along the Dunsborough foreshore path, which starts nearby.

Close by with the dogs

For coffee rather than beer, Evviva Cafe, Sora Cafe and Breakky and Brew all sit within the town centre, and Blue Manna Bistro covers the seafood end of town.
