Beletti Restaurant Cafe Bar ~ Italian Restaurant Dandenong

Beletti is a busy modern Italian cafe, restaurant and bar at 159-161 Lonsdale Street in central Dandenong, open from breakfast right through to dinner seven days a week. For dog owners the pitch is the front footpath tables, where leashed dogs sit with you while the big dining room handles the indoors.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating at the front of the venue on the pavement; the indoor restaurant is people-only, apart from assistance animals. Staff have a reputation for being accommodating with diners who bring dogs and often bring out a water bowl, though it is worth confirming on the day. Give them a call on (03) 9793 1600 if you want an outdoor table held during the peak lunch or dinner rushes. Dry weather makes the footpath tables comfortable; on a wet day this is not the venue for a dog.

The menu

The kitchen runs breakfast from 7am weekdays and 8am weekends through to a full dinner service: the Beletti Big Breakfast covers the traditional plate, while pasta mains include pappardelle with beef ragu, linguine di mare and spinach and ricotta ravioli. Mains like rib eye, barramundi and the chicken parma get singled out by regulars, and the dessert cabinet runs to tiramisu, creme brulee and the house chocolate dome. Coffee flows all day and the bar picks up toward dinner, with trading to 9.30pm midweek, 10pm Friday and Saturday and 3pm Sunday.

Getting there

Lonsdale Street is Dandenong's main dining strip, walkable from Dandenong station, with on-street parking nearby, so check the signage for time limits. There is a pet shop a few doors along if you need supplies, and the venues around the central precinct make an easy wander with a settled dog.

Close by with the dogs

For a run either side of the meal, the Dandenong dog park is the dedicated off-lead option, and Quest Dandenong is one of the pet-welcoming apartment stays if you are overnighting in the area.
