Greaves Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Greaves Reserve sits off Bennet Street in Dandenong, and its draw for dog owners is a fully fenced, grassy off-leash enclosure with airlock gates, set inside a busy sporting reserve. If you want a secure space where a bolting dog stays put while you sort out a lead, this is the one.

The dog setup

Off-leash is allowed only inside the fenced enclosure; everywhere else in the reserve, including the shared walking paths and the oval boundaries, dogs stay on-leash. Carry a lead at all times, keep the dog under voice and visual control, and close both airlock gates behind you. Greater Dandenong Council does not permit dogs declared dangerous or restricted to go off-leash.

What is there

The enclosure has benches and shaded shelter for owners, dog drinking bowls and taps, and public toilets plus a playground and outdoor fitness station sit in the wider reserve. Walking and cycling tracks run through the grounds, which double as the on-lead stretching space.

Max: this is a working sports reserve. Weekday evenings, especially Tuesday and Thursday, and weekend match days get busy on the ovals, so keep your dog inside the fenced zone and clear of training and games.

Getting there and parking

Entry is off Bennet Street with dedicated on-site parking, and Yarraman Station is the closest train stop at about a 900 metre walk. Bus routes 811, 812, 813, 814 and 848 all run nearby, and mid-morning on a weekday is the quietest window for the enclosure.
