The Happy Apple Cafe

The Happy Apple Cafe is a vegetarian art cafe and gallery at Crystal Creek in the Tweed Valley hinterland, about 10 minutes from Murwillumbah. The reason to bring the dog is the rustic outdoor garden seating with mountain views and a peaceful countryside atmosphere.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor garden seating area only. The indoor gallery and cafe space is off-limits to dogs, so keep your dog under control and settle in outside. Staff sometimes provide water, but bring your own bowl to be safe.

Good to know. The menu is 100% vegetarian with vegan and gluten-free options and a locally sourced, healthy focus. Regulars come for the signature apple pie, homemade ice cream, falafel wraps and vego sausage rolls. Diners consistently highlight the sweet potato pie, friendly owners and welcoming staff.

Getting there. Find the cafe at 2 Crooks Valley Rd, Crystal Creek, on the corner of Crooks Valley Road along the Numinbah Road scenic route. It is roughly a 10-minute drive from Murwillumbah, with free onsite parking.

The cafe is closed Monday to Wednesday and opens 8am to 3pm Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, closing at 2pm on Friday. Weekends get busy, so book ahead for groups.
