A craft brewery and American-style smokehouse on Reserve Road in Cheltenham, with slow-cooked barbecue, a long list of house beers and a dog-friendly outdoor terrace. A genuinely easy spot to bring the dog for a relaxed, casual afternoon.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor terrace, on-lead and beside you. Indoors in the main beer hall is people-only. The terrace is shaded, which makes it comfortable on a warm day, and water bowls are put out for visiting dogs.

Known for. Slow-cooked brisket, ribs and wings from the smoker, and a deep tap list of house-brewed beers. It is casual and family-friendly, so it suits a long, low-key sit rather than a quick coffee.

Shade, water and the smell of brisket - the terrace is a brilliant spot to flop. Bring my bed or a mat so I settle while you work through the tap list.

Getting there. At 386 Reserve Road. There is on-site parking plus street parking on Reserve Road and nearby. Southland Station is roughly a 10-15 minute walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Sir William Fry Reserve on the Nepean Highway is close for a walk, and Cheltenham Park is a short drive for more open green space.
