Pinelli Estate Winery Restaurant

Pinelli Estate is a small, family-owned winery and Italian restaurant on Benara Road in the southern Swan Valley, run by the same family for over 40 years. For dog owners it is a quieter, less crowded alternative to the big-name cellar doors, with a single sheltered spot set aside for you and the dog.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the alfresco verandah area only, not in the air-conditioned dining room. The verandah is paved and sheltered, so it holds up in both sun and light rain. Space out there is limited, so book ahead and say you are bringing a dog. Bring your own water bowl to be safe.

Good to know. The kitchen leans modern Italian, with pizza, pasta and lunch platters, and the cellar door pours boutique wines including Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Italian varietals. It is a calm, small-scale visit rather than a big party venue.

Getting there. 114 Benara Road, Caversham, about 20 to 25 minutes from the Perth CBD. Free on-site gravel parking sits right in front of the restaurant and cellar door, and the grounds are fairly level from the car park.

Best as a relaxed weekday or early weekend lunch. Good for calmer dogs who settle happily under the table while you eat.
