Bianco Italian Cuisine & Bar

Bianco is a modern Italian restaurant and bar at 5 Tay Avenue, on the corner of Bulcock Street in the middle of Caloundra. Handmade pasta, long-fermentation pizza and a serious wine list, with dogs welcome at the street-level alfresco tables on the Tay Avenue side, so a long Italian lunch does not have to mean leaving the dog at home.

The dog setup

Dogs take the paved alfresco patio on the Tay Avenue side, not the indoor dining room. There is room beside the tables for a dog to settle, and entry is step-free, which helps with older dogs. The corner is busy by Caloundra standards, so a secure lead and a dog that can relax through a two-hour meal are the practical requirements. Staff are accommodating, but bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one arriving.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs traditional Italian with a Mediterranean lean: ragu, seafood risotto, gnocchi and rump steak, plus a kataifi dessert that reviewers keep naming, a proper cocktail list and a sommelier-led wine list. Gluten-free and coeliac-safe options exist. This is a planned-meal venue rather than a mid-walk coffee stop, and lunch service runs 11:30am to 2pm Tuesday to Sunday, stretching to 2:30pm on Friday and Saturday.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Tay Avenue and the surrounding Bulcock Street blocks, with public car parks a short walk into the town centre. Bulcock Beach is a few minutes on foot for a foreshore walk on lead before or after your booking.

Close by with the dogs

Bunker Espresso Caloundra sits underneath the same building for the morning-after coffee, and for proper off-lead time the Coochin Park Dog Off Leash Area at Dicky Beach is a short drive north. Note that Sunshine Coast Council rules keep dogs off Happy Valley and the Caloundra headland entirely, and off-leash beach hours elsewhere run early morning to 8am and from 4pm, so check the signs at your access point.
