Bunker Espresso Caloundra

Bunker Espresso is a specialty coffee bar at Shop 5, 5 Tay Avenue in central Caloundra, pouring from 6am every day of the week. It is a coffee-and-pastry operation rather than a full kitchen, and with footpath seating out front it is an easy dog stop on an early foreshore walk.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor seating on the footpath, leashed beside you, while the compact indoor space stays for people. Staff have a friendly reputation and the small shop keeps the queue moving, so it works well as a mid-walk stop. Bring your own water bowl on warm mornings to be safe.

The vibe

The focus is properly good specialty coffee, backed by fresh croissants and a cabinet of quick bites. Regulars call out the croissants, the atmosphere and the staff. Hours run 6am to midday, seven days, so this is breakfast-and-first-coffee territory rather than an afternoon hang. It sits in the Tay Avenue dining pocket just off Bulcock Street, sharing the building with Bianco.

Getting there and parking

The shop is a short walk from the Bulcock Beach end of town. Street parking is usually findable nearby, and the coastal boardwalk connects you to the foreshore on foot if you are already down that way with the dog.

Where the dog can actually run

Heads up from Sunshine Coast Council rules: Bulcock Beach itself is a no-dog beach, and the boardwalk is on-lead at all times. For off-leash time, Dicky Beach runs 24-hour off-leash north of Ann Street, Moffat Beach allows off-lead between 4pm and 8am, and Currimundi's stretch near the creek is off-lead around the clock. The Coochin Park dog area at Dicky Beach is the closest all-hours option to town.

Max: 6am opening, quiet footpath table, then down to the boardwalk. That is the move before the heat.
