Waters Edge Bistro & Function Centre

Waters Edge Bistro sits on Cobblestone Drive with direct views over the Leschenault Inlet, running breakfast and lunch from early morning six days a week. For dog owners the draw is the covered alfresco area, a waterfront terrace where dogs are welcome and dolphin sightings out on the inlet are a regular bonus while you wait for your coffee.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco and verandah seating, not inside the main dining room. The covered terrace is roomy enough for a dog to settle beside the table without blocking the path between tables. Water bowls are usually available, so ask staff when you arrive. Because the waterfront tables are the ones everyone wants, booking ahead and asking for an alfresco table is the reliable way to secure a spot with your dog.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for its waterfront breakfasts, including the house Breaky, plus home-made muffins and scones. Through lunch the menu covers fish and chips, fish of the day, garlic prawns and a solid steak sandwich. Hours are 7am to 3pm Tuesday through Sunday, with Mondays closed, so this is a morning-to-mid-afternoon venue rather than a dinner option. Early service is the calmest time to bring a dog.

Getting there and parking

The bistro is at 42 Cobblestone Drive, Bunbury, on the inlet side of town. There is free off-street customer parking, and the bistro sits directly on the Leschenault Inlet path network, so you can walk in from the foreshore with the dog already on the lead.

Close by with the dogs

The Leschenault Inlet pathways run straight past the door, making a pre- or post-breakfast lap easy on the lead, and the Koombana Bay foreshore is just around the corner.
