Dogs on lead on the paved estuary loop; an off-lead exercise claim is unconfirmed, so follow the signs (City of Bunbury).
Wide estuary views and lots of birds are the draw on the Pelican Point Loop, a paved walk of about 3.7 km along the Leschenault Inlet in north Bunbury. It starts from the car park at the end of Riviera Way.
Lead rules
The City of Bunbury allows dogs on lead on the loop. Some sources describe off-lead exercise here, but that is not confirmed, so keep the lead on unless a council sign says otherwise.
The walk
The paved shared path follows the shoreline, with native trees and coastal scrub giving patchy shade. Calm, shallow pockets along the edge let dogs cool their paws.
Bins are near the car park. Carry water and a bowl for the dog.
Pepsi: The shallow edges are perfect for a paddle on a warm afternoon. Just keep an eye out for pelicans.
Make a day of it
Add the nearby Maidens Reserve Loop, or finish with a coffee at Benesse.
Flat and paved, it suits most dogs. Go early in summer, as parts are exposed.
