Rossco’s Cafe, Bar and Grill

Rossco's Cafe, Bar and Grill occupies a corner of Tufnell Road in the Banyo village strip with a proper beer garden out the back, and dogs are welcome through that outdoor area. It runs from early coffee through to dinner service, which makes it one of the few places in Brisbane's northside villages that works for a dog-accompanied breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The dog setup

The beer garden is partially undercover and centred on an established olive tree, with large booths and shared tables spread across the space, so leashed dogs get genuine room beside your table rather than a footpath squeeze. There is no fee for dogs and the area is set up with pets in mind, though bringing your own water bowl removes any doubt on busy days. Inside stays people-only.

The vibe

The menu leans Mediterranean: share plates, halloumi, short ribs and fish tacos get the regular mentions, and the wine list is unusually considered for a suburban village venue. Early weekends are quiet with breakfast from 7am, and the room lifts through Friday and Saturday dinner. The venue has a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Pepsi: head for the booths near the olive tree if your dog needs room to settle, and time it early on a weekend when the garden is quiet.

Getting there and parking

It is at 195 Tufnell Road, Banyo, with free parking on site and along the surrounding streets. Banyo station is close by if you are walking in from the rail line with the dog.

The Nudgee Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a short drive for an off-lead run either side of a meal, and back in the village The Ole Dairy and Putia Pure Food Kitchen cover the other end of the day.
