Misuzu's

Misuzu's is a long-running Japanese restaurant on Victoria Avenue in Albert Park, and its leafy footpath tables make it one of the more comfortable spots in the village to eat well with a dog at your feet. It is a proper sit-down meal rather than a quick coffee, so it suits a settled, well-mannered dog and a longer stay.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed at the outdoor tables on the footpath, shaded by the street trees along Victoria Avenue. Indoors is people-only under standard food-safety rules, so this is an alfresco arrangement. Staff are generally accommodating, but bring your own water bowl. Access from the street is flat and easy. Worth knowing

The kitchen is best known for sashimi and sushi, with a broad menu that runs to tempura, karaage, teriyaki salmon, baked scallops and duck pancakes. Opening hours are split: weekday and Sunday lunch from midday to 2:30pm, and Saturday dinner from 5:30pm to 10pm, so plan the dog-friendly visit around a midday sitting or a Saturday night. It draws a loyal local following and fills up on weekends, so a booking helps. Calm dogs that will settle through a full meal are a better fit than high-energy ones.

Getting there and parking

Misuzu's sits on Victoria Avenue, Albert Park, with tram route 1 running straight down the street. Street parking is on the avenue and the side streets, but it goes quickly on busy nights; Montague Street and Cardigan Place are worth a look if the avenue is full.

Close by with the dogs

The Victoria Avenue strip is a pleasant leashed wander before or after a meal. For an off-lead run first, the Albert Park Dog Off Leash Area and the Gasworks Arts Park Dog Off Leash Area are both a few minutes away, and the Albert Park Lake loop makes a good flat walk with water views.
