Meating Room

Meating Room was a casual cafe, bar and grill at 45 Liardet Street in Weston Creek, known for smoked meats, burgers and craft beer, with a relaxed outdoor area that welcomed leashed dogs. The owners announced in February 2025 that they would close at the end of April that year after a decade, and the venue has since shut its doors.

The dog setup

As it operated, dogs were welcome at the outdoor seating area only, indoors remained people-only, and dogs stayed on lead. Water bowls were often put out, though not guaranteed, and the courtyard filled up on weekend evenings.

Worth knowing

The closure came after the owners could not agree on a lease renewal with their landlord, citing rising wages and liquor taxes, and their site has stayed online since. A replacement pub, Weston Bull, has since been announced for the same Weston Creek spot by the operators of T-Bone at Coombs, so check the latest status before heading out. Until a new tenant is running, Weston Creek locals are driving to Coombs or the city for a courtyard session with the dog.

Getting there and parking

The venue sat in the Weston Creek shopping precinct, with the free Cooleman Court car park nearby and local Canberra bus routes along the main strip.

Little Billy's in the Cooleman Court precinct welcomes dogs at its Trenerry Street outdoor tables, and EightyTwenty at Coombs is another nearby option. For a walk first, Weston Creek Dog Park at Duffy is a short drive away.
