Victoria Park Hotel

The Victoria Park Hotel, known locally as The Vic, is a long-standing pub on Albany Highway with a big, leafy beer garden that anchors the dog-friendly end of the strip. Dogs are formally welcome outdoors, which is written into the hotel's own FAQ rather than being an informal arrangement.

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor beer garden areas, on a lead at all times, and staff are happy to bring water bowls on request. Indoor bar and bistro areas are off-limits to pets for health and safety reasons, so plan for an outdoor table regardless of the weather. Weekend afternoons fill quickly, and booking a garden table ahead is the reliable way to guarantee a spot with your dog.

The vibe

This is a bustling, family-friendly pub rather than a quiet corner bar: classic pub fare including a much-mentioned steak sandwich and loaded fries, a solid tap list, happy hour, QR code ordering from the table and big screens for footy. The garden is shaded by mature trees with a playground in the mix, so kids and dogs share the space comfortably. Trade runs from 11am, with later closes on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pepsi: grab a garden table near the playground side, order the steak sandwich and settle in. Water bowl arrives on request and the afternoon disappears.

Getting there

The hotel sits on Albany Highway in Victoria Park, about 15 minutes from the Perth CBD. A free car park sits behind the hotel off Harper Street, and street parking on Albany Highway is tight at peak. Buses run along Albany Highway directly out front.

For dog time either side of lunch, Koolbardi Park Fenced Dog Park in Carlisle is a few minutes south and Go Edwards Park Fenced Dog Park sits towards the river. The Perth Foreshore walk stretches legs on-lead, and the Balmoral Hotel up the highway is the other dog-friendly pub option.
