GO Edwards Park Fenced Dog Park

GO Edwards Park's fenced dog park sits at the western end of 173 Burswood Road, inside the wider Burswood Park precinct by the Swan River. Two separate fully fenced enclosures on shaded grass mean smaller or nervous dogs can run off lead without contending with the boisterous crowd, all within easy reach of the Perth CBD.

The dog setup

The two enclosures are double gated and shaded, with seating inside for handlers and bag dispensers and bins on site. The split is the point: one yard runs calmer, so you can start a reactive or confidence building dog in the smaller enclosure and work up to the busier one. Note the fencing is solid but not dig proof, so keep an eye on enthusiastic excavators. There is no reliable water tap at the dog area, so bring a bowl and water, especially over summer.

The rules here

Off lead is strictly inside the two enclosures; everywhere else in Burswood Park dogs must stay on a leash to protect the riverside birdlife and manage foot traffic. Under the Dog Act 1976 you must remain inside the enclosure with your dog and keep it under effective voice or visual control, and picking up waste is mandatory, with bins supplied.

Getting there and parking

Free parking is available near the park with additional car parking off Resort Drive, and Burswood Station on the Armadale line is an easy walk away. Paved paths thread through the rest of the precinct if you want to extend the visit with an on lead loop.

Worth knowing

Weekday mornings before 8.30am and mid afternoon on weekdays are the quiet windows; expect crowds on weekday late afternoons and most of the weekend. In summer, mosquitoes gather near the lake and in the shaded corners, so pack repellent if you are staying a while.

Make a day of it

The Swan River Foreshore Loop adds a riverside walk via Heirisson Island, and The Camfield pours a proper beer garden drink with your dog at your feet.
