The Bayswater Bar and Grill

The Bayswater Bar and Grill sits right on the Esplanade at Urangan, opposite the Urangan pier with the marina and beach out front. It is a busy, lively bistro known for seafood, generous pub meals and live music, and the outdoor tables look straight over the water. If you are walking the foreshore with your dog, this is the easiest full meal stop in the area.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco and outdoor areas only, never indoors. Tables have room for a dog to settle beside your chair, on lead, and dogs stay off the furniture. Staff will usually bring a water bowl if you ask, though a travel bowl of your own removes the guesswork on busy nights. The deck fills up around dinner and on live music nights, so arriving before the rush makes settling a dog in much easier.

Worth knowing

The menu leans seafood: barramundi, calamari and prawns all get regular mention, along with duck spring rolls and happy-hour pizzas. Hours run from 10am to late most days, closing at midnight on Sundays, so it works for lunch through to a late dinner. It is a high-traffic venue with a steady stream of walkers, families and visitors off the pier, so dogs that are relaxed around foot traffic will do best here.

Getting there and parking

The venue sits near the end of the Esplanade by Buccaneer Drive, opposite the pier. There is a public car park near the Urangan Pier across the road, and the coastal pathway runs right past, so you can walk in from the foreshore without moving the car.

The foreshore paths start at the front door for a leashed walk along the water, and the pier itself does not allow dogs. For off-lead time, the Urangan off-leash dog beach is a short drive away, and the Urangan Public dog park covers a grass run. Pier Village Cafe works for a morning coffee nearby, and Colonial Village Resort is a pet-friendly place to sleep if you are staying over.
