BMG Cowboys

BMG Cowboys is a western-themed country bar and saloon at 2/58 Cavill Avenue, right in the middle of the Gold Coast's main tourist strip, built around live music, line dancing, a mechanical bull and free pool. It is pet friendly with a catch worth understanding before you go: dogs are welcome in the outdoor and courtyard-style seating, and the loud, air-conditioned saloon indoors is strictly people-only.

The dog setup

Keep your dog leashed and beside you or under the table in the outdoor seating, and keep them clear of the service pathways as Queensland food-safety rules require. Water is usually available on request but bring your own bowl. The honest assessment is that this is a confident-dog venue: between the music, the crowds and the mechanical bull, it is loud most nights, so a dog that startles at noise will be miserable. Go early evening before the crowd and music peak, and check with staff on event or line-dancing nights because the layout shifts.

The vibe and the food

It leans fully into the cowboy theme, with country music, darts, shuffleboard and pool tables, and trading hours that stretch to midnight or later on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen does casual pub-style food and drinks rather than fine dining, so treat it as a drinks-and-snack stop between the beach and dinner rather than the main event.

Getting there

The bar sits on Cavill Avenue a short walk from the G:link tram stop of the same name, which is the easiest way in since parking in the precinct is paid street parking and commercial car parks. If you are staying anywhere in central Gold Coast, walk it.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper run before a night out, the Hedges Avenue Off Leash Dog Park at Broadbeach is a short drive south, and the City of Gold Coast dog exercise map covers the riverside and foreshore paths closer in, where on-leash rules apply near the beach.
