The Winey Cow(Main Beach)

The Winey Cow on Woodroffe Avenue, just off Tedder Avenue in Main Beach, goes further for dogs than most brunch rooms on the Gold Coast. Alongside the boozy-brunch crowd it runs a proper doggy menu, which means you can actually order your dog something instead of apologising with a borrowed water bowl.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is sheltered and comfortable rather than a bare footpath strip. Keep your dog leashed at the table; indoors is for humans only. Water is available on request, and the doggy menu runs to air-dried chicken breast, kangaroo ribs and bully sticks. Confirm the dog menu is running on the day, since specials change.

The kitchen is built around the Winey Big Brekkie, brunch stacks and a cocktail list that leans celebratory, and the service has a reputation for being genuinely warm. It opens early, 5:30am to 2pm daily, so it works as a post-beach-walk breakfast as easily as a slow weekend brunch. The room gets loud at peak, so a dog that settles under the table does best.

The address is 5/11 Woodroffe Avenue, Main Beach, an easy walk from most of the suburb and two minutes off the Tedder Avenue strip. There is a free on-site lot plus free street parking nearby, and both fill on weekends, so arriving before 9am is the reliable play.

Main Beach Parklands gives you a green stretch for a post-brunch stroll, and the patrolled foreshore is close enough for a look at the water. If you want a longer leg-stretch, The Spit via Federation Trail starts up the coast road, and Thyme Cafe Bar is another outdoor-table option in the suburb for a second visit.
