Coramba Hotel

The Coramba Hotel is a classic country pub at 17 Gale Street in the Orara Valley, about 15 minutes west of Coffs Harbour along the Orara Way. It overlooks rolling farmland and the main draw for dog owners is a large fenced backyard beer garden that opens out over the paddocks, with picnic tables and umbrellas giving you room to settle a leashed dog for a proper long lunch.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden only; inside the pub is off limits under the usual food rules. Keep your dog leashed and settled at your table. The hotel leans into its four-legged guests: the kitchen sends out dog treats, and the bar has stocked Dog Nation, an alcohol-free, vet-approved chicken broth so the dog gets a drink with you. It is worth checking with staff on the day what is on hand.

The pub and the food

The kitchen trades on country pub staples done properly: the chicken schnitzel and eggplant parmigiana get regular mentions, along with the housemade pepper sauce. Live music features regularly, and the beer garden fills up on those afternoons, so claim a shaded table early. The pub opens from 10am daily, which makes an early lunch with the dog an easy option before the crowds build.

Getting there and parking

Coramba sits on the Orara Way heading west out of Coffs Harbour, and street parking near the pub is straightforward. The valley drive itself is part of the appeal, with quiet roads and rural scenery rather than highway traffic.

While you are out there

The immediate surrounds are open farmland rather than dedicated tracks, so plan any serious exercise before or after your visit. Down in Coffs Harbour, Thompsons Road Reserve fenced dog park is a big fully-fenced run with shade and a paddle creek, and North Wall Beach off-leash area is the surf option near the marina. Moonee Beach Hotel is the other dog-friendly pub in the region's orbit.
