The Cornish Arms Hotel at 163A Sydney Road, Brunswick is a multi-level Brunswick institution, best known for its huge vegan menu and a live music and trivia calendar that fills the week. There is a regular happy hour, live music and weekly trivia nights, so the courtyard swings from lazy afternoon to packed event space depending on the day. Afternoons are calmer than evenings, and booking ahead is smart on weekends. Doors open from midday daily, with late closes on Friday and Saturday.

Getting there and parking

The 19 tram runs straight along Sydney Road, which spares you the parking question entirely. If you drive, Sydney Road itself is competitive and side streets such as Percival and Dawson Streets are the usual fallback, getting harder as the evening goes on.

For off-lead time before or after a courtyard session, Methven Park Dog Off Leash Area sits east of Sydney Road, and Holbrook Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a quieter enclosed option beside the Moonee Ponds Creek trail in Brunswick West. If you are making a day of the strip, Staple Kitchen is a dog-friendly cafe option up the road.
