Micawber Tavern

The Micawber Tavern holds the corner on Monbulk Road at the top of Belgrave, the last suburb before the Dandenong ranges proper. The tavern runs a broad beer selection, a kitchen that covers barramundi and calamari through to sticky date pudding, and live music on weekends. Hours run from midday weekdays and from 11am on weekends, with Friday and Saturday nights stretching to 1am.

Dogs on lead are reported welcome in the tree shaded beer garden and outdoor areas, per community event listings and review platforms, while the venue site does not publish a written dog policy. In practice that means the garden is the dog zone: take an outdoor table, keep the lead clipped, and let the shade do its work, because the tree cover is what makes this garden usable through summer. The creek that runs through Belgrave adds background noise rather than access, so keep dogs clear of the water at the edges. Water bowls are not advertised, so bring one; staff are used to dogs at the outdoor tables given the walking-track traffic the suburb draws.
