Ruddock Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, shaded off-leash area on Eucalyptus Drive in Westleigh, run by Hornsby Shire Council as part of the wider Ruddock Park. The fencing is the drawcard: it is a genuinely secure space to let dogs run without worrying about a bolt for the street.
The rules: Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced enclosure, but leash up again once you step into the rest of Ruddock Park, including the picnic areas, playground and car park. Keep dogs under effective control at all times, even inside the fenced zone, and bring your own bags in case the dispensers are empty.
What's there: The enclosure has decent natural shade from established trees, a few benches for owners, and a water point for dogs on hot days. Regulars tend to leave tennis balls behind, so don't be surprised if there is already a stash on site. The broader park adds a playground, BBQs, picnic tables and public toilets, all outside the fenced dog area.
Getting there: Parking is easy along Eucalyptus Drive right beside the park, with more on nearby residential streets. It's a short drive off Quarter Sessions Road, the main route through Westleigh. Bus stops sit on surrounding streets, but most visitors drive.

Nearby with the dogs: Westleigh is largely residential, so head to Thornleigh or Pennant Hills for dog-friendly cafe options with outdoor seating. Confirm pet policies before booking any accommodation in the area.
Weekday mornings and midday are the quietest times to visit, useful if your dog is nervous around crowds. Weekends and weekday afternoons draw more traffic. The council occasionally re-turfs sections of the park, which can mean short closures, so it's worth checking current conditions if you're planning a special trip.
