Brickpit Park Fenced Dog Park

Brickpit Park Fenced Dog Park is a newer fully fenced off-leash park at 1C Dartford Road in Thornleigh, opened by Hornsby Shire Council in mid 2025 on the bushland edge of Lane Cove National Park. It is part of a broader rebuild of the old brickworks site, and the newness shows in the concrete entry pads, paths and landscaping.

The dog setup

The enclosure has secure perimeter fencing with a double-gate airlock entry, several benches inside for owners and dog drinking fountains on site. Waste bag dispensers are provided, and concrete paths connect the dog park directly to the car park with a continuous circuit walking path around the wider park.

Off-leash applies only inside the fence. Dogs must be leashed in the car park and on surrounding tracks, and unleashed dogs are strictly prohibited in the adjoining national park bushland, with fines enforced. Keep dogs in sight and under voice control, and note that the newly upgraded playground and water play area next door are dog-free zones. There is no lighting inside the park, so plan for daylight or early evening.

Max: the playground next door fills with kids on weekends, so keep your dog leashed until you are through the airlock gate, not just out of the car.

Worth knowing

Because the park is new, parking details are still worth confirming on arrival: the address is off Pennant Hills Road, some signage points to Dawson Avenue parking shared with Thornleigh Dog Park. The heritage brick wall displays around the site give the park a bit of character most suburban dog runs lack.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 1C Dartford Road, Thornleigh, with free off-street parking nearby. Thornleigh station on the T9 Northern Line is a short walk away, and local paths link towards the Binnari Road fire trail if you want to extend the outing on lead.

Make a day of it

The Monday Morning Cafe in Thornleigh village welcomes dogs in its courtyard a few minutes away, and the larger Thornleigh Dog Park on Dawson Avenue is the second fenced run in the suburb if this one is crowded. The Wahroonga Dog Park is another nearby option across the shire line.
