A newer fully fenced off-leash park on Dartford Road in Thornleigh, opened by Hornsby Council in mid-2025, set against the bushland edge of Lane Cove National Park.

The rules. The fenced dog park has a secure double-gate airlock entry. Off-leash only applies inside the fenced area. Dogs must be leashed in the car park and on any surrounding walking tracks, and unleashed dogs are strictly prohibited in the adjoining Lane Cove National Park bushland, with fines enforced. Owners must keep dogs under voice control and in sight, and clean up after them using the on-site dispensers. The newly upgraded playground and water play area next door are dog-free zones.

What's there. Secure perimeter fencing, several benches inside the enclosure, and dog drinking fountains. There is no lighting inside the park, so plan for daylight or early evening visits.

Getting there. The park address is 1C Dartford Road, off Pennant Hills Road, with free off-street parking nearby. Confirm exact parking at the entrance, some listings also reference nearby Dawson Avenue parking shared with Thornleigh Dog Park, so check signage on arrival. It is a short walk from Thornleigh station on the T9 Northern Line, with local paths linking to the Binnari Road fire trail.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes on The Esplanade in Thornleigh village are a few minutes away, and Thornleigh Dog Park is nearby if you want a second, larger fenced run.

Best visited on a weekday morning or a Sunday afternoon, when the park is at its quietest.
