Wahroonga Dog Park

Wahroonga Dog Park occupies the fenced off-leash zone at Claude Cameron Grove, on the corner of Kintore Street and Westbrook Avenue. It is a Ku-ring-gai Council space that stays open around the clock, and the combination of full fencing and a double-gated entry is what makes it the go-to secure run for owners in the area who do not want to gamble on recall near roads.

The dog setup

Inside the fence the dog is off-leash under effective control, with a limit of four dogs per handler. Clip the lead on before entering and immediately on leaving the enclosure. Council's standing rules apply across the reserve: dogs stay registered, wear a collar with ID, and keep 10 metres clear of the playground and any food or picnic areas. The fenced ground is grassy with bench seating and mature shade trees, and waste bags are usually stocked with bins on hand.

Worth knowing

The wider reserve holds a basketball half-court and a synthetic wicket, so families and sports users share the space and the 10-metre playground buffer matters. Human toilets are available on site and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. Weekday mornings and evenings run quiet; late weekday afternoons and Saturday afternoons draw the regulars, with weekend mornings the social peak if your dog enjoys company.

The park sits on the corner of Kintore Street and Westbrook Avenue, Wahroonga, a short drive from Wahroonga Station. There is free off-street parking off Kintore Street plus accessible street parking nearby, which is easier than most Sydney dog parks manage.

Close by with the dogs

The Frances O'Brien Dog Park is the suburb's other dedicated dog space if you want a change of scene, and the Lovers Jump Creek and Samuel King Loop over in Turramurra adds a bushland walk for the on-lead half of the week.
