Karuah park off leash dog area

Karuah Park's off-leash dog area sits at the eastern end of the park on Karuah Road, Turramurra, in Ku-ring-gai Council territory. It is a leafy, natural corner where local dogs can run free, with an important boundary: the zone stops at the creek, and the sports oval is off limits.

The dog setup

The off-leash zone is strictly the eastern end of the park, east of the creek, and it is open parkland rather than a fully fenced enclosure, so reliable recall matters. Dogs stay on lead when arriving, leaving or crossing any other part of the park, and the sports oval is never a dog zone.

Council rules add the usual guardrails: effective control at all times, no off-leash dogs on the oval while organised sport is running, and dogs kept at least 10 metres from the playground and barbecue areas. Waste carries a fine if it is left behind.

The vibe

The bushland edge and creek line give this spot a quieter, sniffier feel than a manicured dog oval, and the Turramurra locals who use it are regulars. Daylight hours are the practical window, and weekday mornings are the calmest.

Getting there

The park sits on Karuah Road at the Turramurra Avenue corner, a short walk uphill from Turramurra station, with street parking around the reserve. The town's shops and cafes are a few minutes away.

Close by with the dogs

Kent Oval's off-leash area is the other Turramurra option, and Replay Espresso near the station does dog friendly outdoor seating.
