South Ring Road Easement Dog Off Leash Area

The South Ring Road Easement is a large, unfenced grassed off-leash strip on the south side of South Ring Road in Werribee, running roughly 800 metres along the utility easement. It is a casual walking easement rather than a social dog park, used mainly by locals who want an open off-leash stroll without crowds.

The dog setup

Dogs may be off-leash under effective voice control, but must be leashed in parking areas and on the surrounding footpaths. This is City of Wyndham territory, so bagging waste is enforced with fines. The site is completely unfenced and borders the road, which makes recall the deciding factor here: dogs with shaky recall are better served elsewhere, and you should keep clear of the road edge at all times. Be mindful of neighbouring homes and the wildlife around the nearby creek line.

Worth knowing

Facilities are minimal by design. There are no water taps, no public toilets, sparse seating and limited shade, so bring your own water and plan for sun. What you get instead is a long, linear stretch that suits on-the-move exercise, with enough length that an energetic dog actually tires out. Early mornings and late afternoons draw the most locals and weekends add more traffic, but the space is large enough to spread out; weekday midday is the quietest window.

Max: no fence, no taps, no problem, as long as your human trusts your recall.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along South Ring Road near the easement. Werribee Station is a five to ten minute drive, so public transport visitors will want a car or a rideshare for the last leg.

Close by with the dogs

For a fenced alternative, Presidents Park Fenced Dog Park in Wyndham Vale is worth the drive, and Diversion Weir offers a river-side off-leash walk. Chatterbox Cafe in central Werribee makes the coffee stop on the way home.
