Geelong Road Dog Off Leash Area

The Geelong Road Dog Off-Leash Area is a linear reserve running alongside Geelong Road in Werribee, better thought of as a walking route than a social park. A wide, paved path makes it a clean option for laps through the wetter months.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash under effective voice control, but leash up within 20 metres of any play equipment or barbecue and picnic areas. An active oil pipeline runs beneath the reserve, so digging is prohibited. Declared menacing, dangerous or restricted-breed dogs are not allowed off-leash. Carry bags and clean up.

What's there. Water stations on-site and benches along the path. It is unfenced, with no public toilets. Parking is along Westleigh Drive.

Getting there. The reserve runs along the northern side of Geelong Road between the two Westleigh Drive intersections, near 135 Westleigh Drive. Driving is easiest; Werribee Station is roughly a 15-to-20-minute walk away.

When to go. Weekday mornings and early evenings are busiest with walkers. It is quieter midday and toward the end of the week. Traffic noise from Geelong Road is constant, so a noise-sensitive dog is better brought during the quiet stretches, or taken to a fenced reserve like Presidents Park instead.
