Nicklin Way Fenced Dog Park

Nicklin Way Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash exercise area at 204 to 212 Nicklin Way in Warana, open around the clock under Sunshine Coast Council rules. It is one open grassed enclosure for all dogs, with room for ball work, natural shade and a reputation for rarely feeling crowded.

The dog setup

Entry is through a secure double-gate system, and dogs stay leashed until you are both inside the fence; they go back on the lead before you exit. There is no separate small-dog and large-dog split, so the one yard hosts everyone. Owners must stay in the park, keep their dog under voice or visual control, and make sure it wears its current council registration tag. Regulated dogs are not permitted in off-leash areas, and droppings need to go straight into the bins provided. Water is sorted with a drinking fountain, a tap and a dog bowl, and a sheltered seating area with mature trees gives owners cover from the sun.

Max: no size split here, so scout the crowd before you unclip. If the big runners own the middle, work the edges until a gap opens.

Worth knowing

Sunshine Coast Council has refreshed its dog rules across the region in recent years, so read the signage at the gate on arrival for the current local laws. Early mornings and late afternoons are the busy windows on both weekdays and weekends, though there is usually room to spread out. If your dog is timid, mid-morning or early afternoon tends to be the quietest stretch.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Nicklin Way opposite Rata Street, with a second entry via the easement at the northern end of Technology Drive. Parking is in the surrounding commercial and industrial streets and the local service roads off Nicklin Way. Bus routes run straight along Nicklin Way if you are coming without a car.

While you're out there

For a sand run after the fenced yard, the off-leash stretch of Warana Beach is only a few minutes away. Elizabeth Daniels Park Fenced Dog Park at Buderim is another enclosed option inland, and Jimmy's Coffee and Kitchen on the same strip of Nicklin Way works for a coffee stop afterwards.
