Victoria Point Bushland Refuge Fenced Dog Park

The Victoria Point Bushland Refuge Fenced Dog Park sits off Link Road just north of Colburn Avenue, and it is the pick of the Redlands' off-leash spots when you want a fully fenced run in a bushy setting. Redland City Council runs it with separate large and small dog yards behind a double-gated airlock entry, which means even a committed bolter can be let off the lead with confidence.

The dog setup

Keep your dog leashed across the carpark and only unclip once you are both inside the airlock. Owners are expected to stay in the yard and keep their dogs under effective control, and any dog showing aggression should be taken out. Council rules also bar declared menacing or dangerous dogs from off-leash areas. An eco-sac dispenser and bins cover clean-up, with fines for anyone who skips it.

The vibe

Both yards carry basic agility equipment, so there is more to do than fetch, and a water tap with bowls serves each side. Undercover shelters with seating and tables give owners somewhere to sit, and the surrounding native bushland throws real shade across the park, which matters on a hot Queensland afternoon. The tree cover also means keeping an eye out for wildlife; this is koala country, so scan the trees before you unclip.

Getting there and parking

A gravel access road runs off Link Road down to a dedicated carpark right beside the park. Buses serve Colburn Avenue nearby, but driving is the most direct option, and the small carpark can fill on busy afternoons. Weekday mornings and around sunset are the calm windows; Sunday and weekend late afternoons draw the biggest crowds. In summer, go early or late and bring a water top-up in case the tap is busy.

Close by with the dogs

The Les Moore Park fenced dog park is the suburb's other secure enclosure, and the Manning Esplanade Park fenced dog park is one suburb north. For water play, the Raby Bay dog beach at Cleveland is a short drive.
