Bimbadeen Park is a 2.6-hectare semi-natural reserve at the corner of Templestowe Road and Airds Road, best known for its valley of red gums. It's a quiet, low-key spot for a casual walk rather than a high-energy meet-up.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash but must be under effective voice control at all times, per Manningham City Council's dog regulations. Keep dogs on-lead in the car park, on paths next to play equipment, and within 10 metres of organised sport or the playground. Clean-up bins are provided on-site.

What's there. Natural walking paths wind through the reserve's red gum plantings, with the ground mildly undulating and falling away toward Templestowe Road. Street parking is available. The adjoining Finns Reserve has more developed facilities if you want a longer outing.

The native tree cover here draws local birdlife, so keep an eye on recall around wildlife if your dog is prone to chasing.

When to go. The park is generally quiet, even on weekends. If your dog is nervous around others, weekday mornings or Sunday afternoons are the calmest times to visit.
