Morris Williams Reserve is a 3.5-hectare open-space reserve on Rocklea Road in Bulleen, with a fenced sporting ground that doubles as the local off-leash area. It's a straightforward suburban option: a proper enclosed run for dogs when the ground isn't booked for sport.
The rules. Off-leash is allowed only inside the fenced sporting ground, and only when it isn't in use for organised sport, training or games. Dogs must stay on-leash everywhere else in the reserve, and at least 15 metres clear of the playground, exercise equipment and picnic areas even while leashed. Keep effective control at all times and carry a leash with you even inside the fence. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.
What's there. The reserve has a pavilion, the fenced sporting ground, walking paths, a playground with a shade sail, a basketball half-court and outdoor exercise equipment near the car park. Drinking water and toilets aren't guaranteed to be available, so bring your own water bowl to be safe.
Getting there. Access is via Rocklea Road or Egan Drive, with off-street parking on Egan Drive. It sits in a residential pocket of Bulleen serviced by local buses along Manningham Road, with a short walk in from the nearest stop.
Nearby with the dogs. We don't have a dog-friendly cafe or stay listed in Bulleen yet, but Bulleen Plaza is close by for a coffee stop, and Templestowe Village has a cafe strip a short drive away. Check pet policy and outdoor seating with any venue before you arrive with a dog.
Check the field isn't booked for football or cricket before you head over, since weekend mornings in winter and summer are the likeliest times it will be in use. Late afternoons on weekdays, roughly 4pm to 6pm, tend to be the busiest for dog walkers, so weekday mornings are the quieter option if you want the space to yourselves. Good for a local, no-fuss run rather than a destination trip.
