A fully fenced off-leash dog park on the electricity easement off Collenso Street, Sunshine West, and at roughly 200 metres long by 80 wide it is one of the biggest fenced runs in Brimbank. The length is the point: a fast dog can genuinely open up here without you worrying about the road.

The rules. Off-leash inside the fence, open 24 hours. Dogs must stay under effective voice control, and anything showing aggression should be leashed and taken out. Close the gates behind you, keep dogs leashed on the easement outside the fenced section, and pick up - bins are on site but carry backup bags.

What's there. Full fencing, bench seating and bins, with scattered small trees that give only patchy shade on hot days. A water point is reported on site, but bring your own bowl to be safe. The surface is grass and it is honest suburban grass: muddy through winter and uneven in spots, with potholes regulars warn about. Brimbank Council has consulted on upgrades to the space, so expect improvements and possible works over the next couple of years.

the ground is the hazard here, not the fence. Walk your first lap before you let a fast dog hit full speed - the potholes are hard to spot in longer grass.

Getting there. The park runs along the easement between Whitesides Avenue and Glengala Road, with entry around 47-59 Collenso Street. Street parking on Collenso Street is straightforward. By public transport, buses along Glengala Road get you closest; Sunshine and Albion stations both need a bus connection or a long walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Gresham Way Reserve is the local unfenced off-leash alternative, and Killeen Street Reserve suits a calmer lead walk. For a feed afterwards, Sunshine Social on Glengala Road welcomes dogs in its outdoor area.

When to go. Weekday mornings and the middle of the day are quietest; late weekday afternoons and weekend mornings draw the regular crowd. In winter, pack a towel for the mud. Best for big runners and ball chasers that need real distance.
