Cairnlea Dog Park

Cairnlea Dog Park sits inside Kevin Flint Memorial Reserve on Furlong Road, three fully fenced enclosures with double-gated airlock entries, off-leash 24 hours a day.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced enclosures only, on-leash in the car park and the surrounding reserve. Owners need to stay inside the park and keep voice control of their dog. Waste bags and bins are supplied, so bring your own backup just in case. It is not the spot for a dog with aggression issues, and the separate small/shy dog zone is there for a reason, use it if your dog needs the calmer space.

What's there. Three zones cover a big run-about area plus a dedicated space for small, older or shy dogs. On-site extras include agility equipment, a sand pit, a dry creek bed for sniffing and digging, a drinking fountain with a dog bowl, shelter and shaded seating, and paved paths around the enclosures.

Getting there. Free parking is right next to the sports ovals off Furlong Road. It is not close to a train line, Ginifer Station is the nearest and it's a 20-30 minute walk or a short bus ride, so driving is the realistic option for most visits.

When to go. Weekday late afternoons (4-6pm) and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds. Mid-morning on weekdays is quieter if your dog prefers fewer playmates. Good after light rain too, the park is well maintained and drains reasonably well, but confirm current conditions if you're coming after heavy weather.
