Roussac Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Roussac Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a smaller, fully fenced off-leash area in Sunshine North that locals describe as quiet but well used. It has some shade and enough space for a decent run, and a combined water fountain for dogs and owners is the standout amenity here.

The rules. Dogs need to be leashed until inside the fenced area, then can run off-leash under voice or hand-signal control. In any unfenced part of the reserve, keep dogs within 50 metres of you, and stay at least 20 metres clear of the playground. Skip a visit if the reserve is being used for organised sport that day.

Getting there. The reserve is at 14 Somerset Drive, Sunshine North, with accessible street parking nearby. There are bus routes through Sunshine North; check PTV for services around Duke Street and the HV McKay Memorial Gardens if you are relying on public transport.

Nearby with the dogs. Sadie Black Cafe in Albion has a dog-friendly garden courtyard, and The Granary Cafe & Catering in Sunshine offers outdoor seating. Pet-friendly accommodation is easier to find in the broader Sunshine, Albion or Maribyrnong areas, since Sunshine North itself is mostly residential.

Weekday mornings tend to be the quietest time to visit, while Tuesday and Thursday afternoons through to Saturday evening see more regulars. If your dog is easily overwhelmed by other dogs, a weekday morning is the safer bet.
