Nearby with the dogs. Cross the river toward Highpoint or head into Footscray for dog-friendly outdoor seating at cafes along Ballarat Road, or a pub session at Moon Dog Wild West. A few pet-friendly hotel options, including Quest Maribyrnong, sit within a short drive for anyone making a day of it.

When to go. Weekend mornings and weekday evenings after 5pm are the busiest windows. Weekday mid-mornings are quieter and a better bet for a reactive dog that needs space. Good for dogs that are solid off-lead but need a breather from the more crowded off-leash parks closer to the city.
