Green Gully Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits at 149 Green Gully Road in Keilor Downs, opposite Driscolls Road, and it is one of the more thoroughly equipped fenced parks in Melbourne's west. The recent Brimbank council revamp turned a plain enclosure into a two zone park with agility gear, digging pits and double gated entries, and it is open around the clock.

The dog setup

The fully fenced area is split into two zones: a dedicated section for small and shy dogs and a larger paddock for big dogs. Both are reached through double gated airlocks, so there is no sprint-for-the-gate moment when you arrive. Inside, the equipment list is longer than most councils bother with: ramps, weaving poles, open and closed tunnels and raised platforms, plus natural rummaging zones with digging pits, logs and rocks for scent work.

Water taps serve both ends of the lead, with three bench seats for the human side. Bag dispensers and waste bins are on site, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Worth knowing

The fence is the boundary for off lead: dogs must stay on leash everywhere else in the wider Green Gully Reserve, and even inside the enclosure the council expects effective voice control, not just physical containment. Supervise children closely, because the space is designed for dogs first. After rain, it pays to walk the fence line first, as mushrooms have been reported near the perimeter in wet weather.

Pepsi: the separate small dog yard is the reason to come. When the big dog side fills up on Saturday mornings, my human just walks me through the airlock next door instead of going home.

Getting there and parking

The vehicle entrance is on Green Gully Road opposite Driscolls Road, with on-site parking. Pedestrian access near McCrae Boulevard connects to the eastern section of the reserve, which suits anyone walking in from the surrounding Keilor Downs streets. The reserve itself is a full sports precinct, so expect competition traffic on weekend mornings.

Close by with the dogs

The wider reserve adds playgrounds, BBQ shelters and toilets, and Brimbank Park is a short drive for a proper river walk. If the fenced yard is busy, Spring Gully Reserve in Keilor East and Stadium Drive Off-leash Dog Park are the closest alternatives, with Taylors Lakes Dog Park further up the road.
