Spring Gully Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Spring Gully Reserve's off-leash area sits on Spring Gully Drive in Keilor East, an open, slightly rustic stretch of grass linked to the Steele Creek Trail. It is open 24/7, which makes it a genuinely flexible option for early or late walks, not just a daytime park.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash away from the children's playground, but must go back on-leash in the car park and on the surrounding pathways. Keep at least 15 metres clear of the playground and public barbecues, and dogs need to be under reliable voice control the whole time. If your dog has a strong prey drive, leash up near Steele Creek, since it draws local birdlife.

What's there. There is a water fountain, a poo bag dispenser, shaded seating, a dual barbecue and a small playground near the entrance, plus ample free car parking.

Getting there. The reserve is reached off Keilor Road, with free off-street parking on-site. Bus routes along Buckley Street stop within a short walk if you are coming without a car.

Weekday mornings before 9am, and the 4pm to 6pm slot plus weekends, are the busiest times. Mid-morning on weekdays is quieter, and the southern end of the park tends to have fewer dogs if yours prefers a bit of space.
