J.H. Allan Reserve

J.H. Allan Reserve on Park Drive in Keilor East is a fully fenced off-leash dog play area, well suited to dogs that need a secure space to run without worrying about the road or a bolt for the gate.

The rules. The fenced area is officially designated for off-leash play, but dogs must be leashed within 15 metres of the children's playground, barbecues or exercise equipment. Voice control still applies even inside the fence, and owners are expected to clean up after their dogs, with bag dispensers on site.

What's there. Inside the fence there is agility equipment, water stations and waste bag dispensers, plus a large grassy area that suits ball games. The reserve also has a shaded children's playground, public toilets during daylight hours, seating and shelters.

Getting there. The reserve is on Park Drive, with street parking available nearby. Buses along Milleara Road or Keilor Road are the closest public transport options, and the park is well connected by local footpaths.

Weekends and the early evening window from 4pm to 6pm draw the most local dogs, so aim for a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon if you want the fenced area to yourself.
