Taylors Lakes Dog Park

Taylors Lakes Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash strip running along a utility easement off Sandpiper Drive in Taylors Lakes, between parkland and the surrounding suburb. The long, narrow layout gives dogs room to sprint flat out, and the secure fencing makes it a solid pick when you want the lead off without a busy road in the picture.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced boundary under effective control, and the park is open 24 hours. Brimbank City Council has confirmed the existing fencing, gates and off-leash layout stay as they are, with a shared user path project being staged nearby, so watch for path works around the easement.

A drinking fountain serves dogs and owners, and bag dispensers and bins sit at the entrances, though carry your own bags in case they run out. Seating is a handful of benches and there is minimal shade across the site.

Max: there is almost no shade here. If your dog runs hot, aim for early morning or evening rather than the middle of a summer day.

Worth knowing

Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings are the busiest slots, while weekday mornings, especially Tuesday and Wednesday, are noticeably quieter. Outside the fence, Brimbank rules keep dogs leashed within five metres of walking and bike paths and near play areas, so leash up before you leave the pen.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 17A Sandpiper Drive, reached via Sandpiper Drive off Kings Road. Street parking is available, mainly along Rutherglen Way. Bus stops on Sunshine Avenue or Calder Park Drive are a short walk from the gate, and Watergardens Town Centre is about five minutes away by car.
