Davitt Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park gives Deer Park dog owners the thing that matters most in Melbourne's west: a fully fenced off lead enclosure where a dog can run flat out without the risk of slipping toward traffic. It is a practical, no-frills park that earns its regulars through secure fencing and open space rather than fancy extras.

The dog setup

The enclosure sits south of the broader reserve, fully fenced with a double entry gate so dogs cannot bolt past you at the door. Off lead is permitted only inside the fence; elsewhere in Davitt Drive Reserve, Brimbank's ordinary leash rules apply, and dogs need to stay on lead near the playground and shared paths. Bags and bins are provided on site, and council's general conditions still hold: leash in hand, dog in sight and under control, no unattended dogs, and dogs showing aggression get leashed and moved on.

What is there

Inside the fence you get a long open run with genuine room for sprinting and fetch, benches, and tree shade around the edges. There is a water station, though it is worth bringing your own bowl as backup because the tap is not always running. The surrounding reserve adds a children's playground and walking tracks, and the Kororoit Creek trail network is close by for an on lead warm up before the off lead session.

Max: Do a lap of the fence line before you unclip. If a panel has shifted or a gate has not latched, you want to find it before your dog does.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is at 30 Davitt Drive, Deer Park, reached via Ballarat Road or the Western Ring Road. On street parking runs along Davitt Drive. Deer Park Station on the Ballarat line is about 1.5 kilometres away, a 15 to 20 minute walk, and buses on the surrounding main roads cover the rest.
