Gresham Way Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

A 24-hour off-leash grass reserve at 149 Gresham Way, Sunshine West, backed by the freeway wall. It is big, open and free to run, but unfenced on the street side, so it suits dogs with reliable recall rather than escape artists.

The rules. Off-leash under effective voice control, with your dog in sight and a lead in hand. Brimbank requires dogs on-leash near the playground at the eastern end and close to shared paths, and immediate pick-up applies everywhere - bag dispensers are on site, but carry your own too.

What's there. A long rectangle of open grass with small, young trees, so shade is scarce on hot afternoons. Poo bag dispensers are provided; there is no dog water on site, so bring a bowl. The freeway side is walled, the road side is open.

Getting there. Street parking on Gresham Way and the surrounding residential streets is easy. Public transport is workable but not quick - Sunshine and Albion stations both need a bus leg or a long walk.

Nearby with the dogs. The Collenso Street fenced dog park covers secure off-leash time, Killeen Street Reserve handles lead walks, and Sunshine Social on Glengala Road takes dogs in its outdoor area for lunch afterwards.

When to go. Weekend mornings are the social peak; the middle of a weekday is quietest, and in summer go early before the shadeless stretch heats up. Best for well-trained dogs that want space to stretch out.
