Gresham Way Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Gresham Way Reserve, at 149 Gresham Way in Sunshine West, is a 24-hour off-leash grass reserve backed by the freeway wall. It is big, open and free to run, with the Western Ring Road wall closing one long side entirely. The street side is unfenced though, so this is a recall ground for dogs that come back when it matters.

The dog setup

Brimbank's off-leash conditions apply: your dog stays under effective voice control, in sight at all times, with a lead in your hand. Keep the lead on near the playground at the eastern end and close to the shared paths. Immediate pick-up applies everywhere; bag dispensers are on site but carry your own too. There is no dog water, so pack a bowl.

The ground is a long rectangle of open grass with young, small trees, which means shade is scarce on hot afternoons and summer visits are best kept to the early morning.

Worth knowing

Weekend mornings are the social peak, while the middle of a weekday is quietest. If your dog's recall wobbles around other dogs, the fully fenced Collenso Street Fenced Dog Park is about five minutes away and is the better tool for the job.

Getting there and parking

Street parking on Gresham Way and the surrounding residential streets is easy. Public transport is workable but not quick: Sunshine and Albion stations both need a bus leg or a long walk.

While you're out there
