Boeing Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Boeing Reserve at 2 Boeing Road, Strathmore Heights is a large open reserve running straight along the Moonee Ponds Creek trail, with a big expanse of flat grassed space for a proper run rather than a cramped suburban pocket. Moonee Valley Council rules split the reserve in two, so the zone you end up in matters.

The dog setup

Off lead is restricted to the northern end of the reserve, north of Boeing Road, with dogs under effective voice control at all times. The southern section with the playground, toilets and water taps is on lead, and dogs must be leashed entering and exiting the off-lead zone. The space up north is generous, mostly flat and mostly treeless, which suits ball dogs more than shade seekers.

The eastern boundary borders the open creek and the shared concrete trail, so watch for cyclists and pedestrians passing at speed. Waste bins are provided on site.

Max: Boeing Road is the dividing line. If you park on the southern side and unclip early, you are off-lead in an on-lead zone, and it is the easiest rule to get wrong here.

The vibe

This is a multi-use reserve rather than a dedicated dog park: sports ovals, tennis courts, a basketball half court and a skate space share the grounds, and planes from nearby Essendon Fields pass overhead often enough to be part of the visit. The aviation-themed playground sits on the southern side.

Getting there and parking

Free parking sits directly off Boeing Road, and the reserve connects straight onto the paved Moonee Ponds Creek trail for a longer on-lead walk in either direction. Water taps are on the southern side, so fill a bowl before heading into the off-lead end, because there is nothing at the northern boundary itself.

Close by with the dogs

The Alf Pearce Reserve fenced dog park in Strathmore covers dogs who need a fence, and JP Fawkner Reserve at Oak Park continues the creek corridor south. Poppy Cafe and Pantry is the closest coffee stop.
