Wahgunyah Reserve's fenced dog park on Paringa Drive in St Albans is built like a sprint track: a long, narrow, fully fenced off-leash run around 130 metres end to end and roughly 20 metres wide. That shape is the whole appeal for high-energy dogs. Flat-out running and ball chasing with no corners to negotiate, plus a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

The dog setup

The enclosure is off-leash around the clock, with Brimbank's dog park code applying inside: stay in the park, keep your dog supervised and under effective voice or visual control, and leash up before entering and leaving the fenced area. Gate discipline matters in a straight-line park, because an unlatched gate at one end sends dogs straight toward the road side, so check both gates are fully latched on the way in and out.

A dog-friendly drinking fountain sits on site, with waste bags and bins provided, and picnic tables with some shade nearby. Bring your own bags as a backup in case the dispenser runs dry. There are no public toilets within the reserve itself.

The 24/7 access makes it popular with early risers and night-shift workers, and lighting is limited, so bring a torch after dark.
