Sirius Fenced Dog Park

Sirius Fenced Dog Park sits right inside the Orion Springfield Central shopping precinct, on the corner of Sirius Street and Main Street, making it Queensland's rare example of an off-leash park built directly into a shopping centre. It is small and urban rather than sprawling, but fully fenced, well kept, and easy to combine with a shopping or coffee run.

The rules. Dogs must be council registered, vaccinated, and wearing a collar or harness at all times. Spike, prong, or choker-style collars are not allowed. Owners must supervise their dogs continuously and step in for excessive barking, digging, or mounting. Aggressive dogs and dogs in heat are not permitted, and glass containers are banned. Any children in the park must be supervised by an adult throughout the visit. Cleaning up after your dog is the owner's responsibility.

What's there. The park is fully fenced with a double-gated entry, and has separate sections for small and large dogs. It is mostly grass, with shaded areas and seating for owners, drinking fountains, and dog waste bins on site. A large bespoke dog sculpture is a bit of a local landmark inside the park.

Getting there. Access is via Sirius Street or Main Street within the Orion Springfield Central complex. Parking is plentiful in the shopping centre's own carpark, including wheelchair accessible spaces, and Springfield Central train station is close by for those arriving without a car.

Nearby with the dogs. Toast n Roast and Roar Espresso both have outdoor seating that welcomes leashed dogs within the same Orion Springfield Central precinct, good for a coffee or a roast roll after a run around the park.

When to go. Because the park is compact, it fills up fast during weekend shopping hours and late-night trade. Early morning or a weekday visit gives far more room to move, and suits a quick social stop better than a big off-leash run.
