Sirius Fenced Dog Park

Sirius Fenced Dog Park sits inside the Orion Springfield Central shopping precinct, on the corner of Sirius Street and Main Street, which makes it a rare Queensland example of an off-leash park built directly into a shopping centre. It is small and urban rather than sprawling, but fully fenced, well kept, and easy to bolt onto a shopping or coffee run. The precinct hours run 8am to 6pm, seven days.

The dog setup

Dogs must be council registered, vaccinated, and wearing a collar or harness at all times. Spike, prong and choker-style collars are not permitted. Owners supervise continuously and step in early for excessive barking, digging or mounting; aggressive dogs and dogs in season are not allowed, glass containers are banned, and any children in the park stay under adult supervision throughout. Cleaning up is the owner's job, with waste bins on site.

The vibe

The park is fully fenced with a double-gated entry and splits into separate sections for small and large dogs, which keeps the small-dog side calm at peak times. Ground cover is mostly grass, with shaded areas, seating for owners and drinking fountains. A large bespoke dog sculpture inside the park has become a local landmark and an obligatory photo stop. Cleanliness and how well the dogs mix are the themes that keep coming up in visitor notes, and the shaded corners make midday visits workable even in summer.

Max: a fenced yard next to the shopping centre means my human does groceries while I do laps. Everyone wins.

Getting there and parking

The park is reached through the Orion precinct at Springfield Central, with the precinct's car parks a short walk from the gate. Springfield Central railway station and the Centenary Motorway put it within easy reach from Ipswich and the Brisbane side, so arriving by rail works as well as driving.
