Ipswich City Council treats this as a supervised off-leash area, not a drop-and-leave one: effective voice or hand control applies even inside the fence, owners need to stay present with visual contact on their dog, and any dog showing aggression must be leashed and taken out immediately. Dogs go back on the leash the moment they step into the general park sections.

The wider park covers the rest of the family: shade trees over most of the enclosure, picnic tables and benches, drinking water, public toilets and a playground just outside the fence line, so a visit splits neatly between kids and dog. Bins and bag dispensers are provided, and the fence is roughly waist height, which suits most dogs but is worth a mental note if yours can clear it.

Getting there and parking

The main park entrance is off Christopher Street, Augustine Heights, with on-street parking at the park, while the fenced dog park section itself is accessed from Rush Drive behind the houses. Local bus services run along the nearby arterials if you are coming without a car. Weekend mornings between eight and ten and weekday evenings after four are the busy windows; weekday mornings and the middle of a weekend day stay quiet, which suits a nervous dog that wants the yard mostly to itself.
