Moray Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits under the Kings Way overpass on the corner of Moray Street and Kings Way in Southbank. Its defining feature is the roof over your head: the overpass keeps the whole run dry, so this is the go-to fenced off-leash space when it is raining and a genuine option for apartment dogs 24 hours a day.

The rules. The park is fully fenced with a double-gate airlock entry, and dogs may be off-leash inside the boundary. Once you are within about 20 metres of the surrounding footpaths and public areas outside the fence, dogs must be back on-leash. Keep your dog under effective control, make sure it is registered and vaccinated, and bring your own bags, as bins are not always right at the gate.

What's there. The surface is gravel and rock, which keeps it mud-free year-round. There is a dog drinking fountain, some agility and play equipment, and the covered shelter from the overpass. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. It is an easy walk for Southbank and Sturt Street residents and reachable by tram along St Kilda Road and Kings Way. Driving is the weak point, with only limited metered street parking nearby that can be hard to find.

When to go. It is busiest early morning and late afternoon on weekdays, plus Sunday evening and Monday morning. Saturday afternoons and mid-week mornings are the calmest. In wet weather this is one of the few spots in the area where you can still let your dog run under cover.
