Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park(South Launceston)

Coronation Park's fenced off-leash area sits on the western side of the park at 44 Mulgrave Street, South Launceston, and the City of Launceston has built it out with proper play terrain rather than leaving a plain paddock behind a fence. For a secure run in Launceston's south, this is the standout local option.

The dog setup

Entry runs through a double gate that forms a safe airlock before your dog reaches the open field. Inside there is a large running area plus agility obstacles, earth mounds, air tunnels and a pole forest, which gives busy dogs more to do than fetch alone.

For owners there is shaded seating, a water fountain and a waste bin, with bags provided on site. A playground and public toilets sit just outside the fence, making it easy to combine with a family trip.

Worth knowing

Off-leash applies only inside the enclosure; everywhere else in Coronation Park dogs stay on lead and the sports fields are off limits entirely. Supervise at all times and bin waste straight away. Close the first gate before opening the second, and do not let an excited dog rush the inner gate while the outer one is still open.

The vibe

Busiest on weekday afternoons after about 3:30pm and across weekend mornings. Mid-morning on a weekday is the quiet window for a timid dog. The site is elevated with no tidal concerns, but the grass stays damp after rain, so expect muddy paws through winter.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 44 Mulgrave Street, easily reached from Hobart Road, with free street parking on the surrounding residential streets. Several Metro Tasmania bus routes run along Hobart Road, a short walk away.

While you're out there

For a second fenced option, the Lawrence Vale Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is in the same suburb and the Prospect Vale Dog Park is a short drive west. Staying overnight, the Village Family Motor Inn is nearby.
