Lawrence Vale Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The Lawrence Vale Road Reserve fenced dog park is a compact, fully enclosed off-leash area in South Launceston, minutes from the city centre. It is a quick-secure-blow-off park rather than a long-ramble one, and the fence is the reason to pick it over the open reserves nearby.

The dog setup

The enclosure has a secure perimeter fence with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a water station and bench seating for owners. Off-leash rights apply only inside the fence; everywhere else in the reserve and on surrounding streets, City of Launceston rules require your dog on lead. Keep your dog in sight and under voice control while inside, use the bins provided, and take any dog that turns aggressive straight out, because a small shared space has nowhere for tension to go.

Worth knowing

The surface is part grass, part dirt, which means dust through a dry Tasmanian summer and mud after rain; shoes that forgive both are worth packing. Because the park is small it fills quickly. Weekend mornings and weekday afternoons after about 4pm are the busy windows, so a shy or overwhelmed dog is better served mid-week in the morning or early afternoon when you may well have the place to yourselves.

Getting there

Access is straight off Lawrence Vale Road in South Launceston, with good off-road parking close to the gate. Launceston bus routes run nearby, though you will still have a short walk from the stop. The location works well if you live or are staying central and want a supervised run without driving out of town.

Close by with the dogs

Coronation Park gives you a second fenced option in South Launceston, and Hoblers Bridge Reserve in Newstead adds a bigger, tree-filled enclosure by the river for a longer session.
