Peter Vergers Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Peter Vergers Reserve sits right on Maroondah Highway in Ringwood, two side-by-side ovals fringed by trees and bushland. The ovals are designated off-leash and the reserve backs onto the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, so there is room to run and somewhere to walk afterwards.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash on the ovals under effective voice control. Go back on lead on the shared paths, including the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, within 15 metres of playgrounds or barbecue facilities, and near the tennis courts. Pick up after your dog. Note that Maroondah is rolling out updated dog exercise area plans, so confirm the current off-leash boundary on the council page before you rely on it.

What's there. Public toilets, seating, shelters, and bins, plus water taps with bowls. The two open ovals give plenty of space, with natural bushland around the edges.

Getting there. Direct access from Maroondah Highway westbound, with the long car park on the northern side of the ovals. It is within walking distance of Ringwood Station.

Busiest on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and weekend afternoons. The size of the ovals keeps it workable even then, but Monday to Thursday mornings are the quietest.
